Mermaids` Makings

Mr Shaker and Miss Wobbly

We turned two big plastic eggs into a shaker and wobbly toy. For the shaker I filled the egg with rice. Then I used a knife to make a hole underneath and stuck a pencil through, securing it with sellotape. Afterwards I mod podged the tissue paper around the egg to make it look nicer, and to help keep it together.

For our wobbly toy, Lil Mermaid used some playdough on the bottom of the egg (making it wobble) before decorating it.  After decorating the eggs I put them into an egg box lid to dry and Lil Mermaid made a little blanket for them using postit notes to keep them warm and cozy. It’s lovely to see how playful little children are -they can find a story  in such simple things.
