Mermaids` Makings

Alphabet

We explored the Russian alphabet today, comparing letters and words with English and Estonian. It was a lot of fun finding letters which look the same as in English but actually sounding completely different. So a “p” in English and Estonian sounds like a “r” in Russian and an upside down “l” sounds like “g” in Russian.  Lil Mermaid’s classmate (her mother is Russian) gave us this Russian ABC book, which was perfect for this little activity.

Väga nutikas keeleõpetus. Ja kõik õigesti kirjas ka, va koala, mis eesti keeles on siiski kahe a-ga.

I love this idea… I thinks it’s so neat to expose children to other languages…I love that you had a fun visual representation of the alphabet :)
