A perfect present from a grandchild to her grandparents is a handmade one, isn`t it. Even better if it is made out of recycled materials, especially for our grandparents who are so good at looking after the environment.
After seeing these post- it note holders I knew it would be the perfect present. The only problem was I did not want to buy photoframes. I wanted to use something we had in our house already. Then I noticed some bookends I had bought from Ikea a few months ago. We really don`t use them as they don`t fit our bookshelf. So perfect for post- it note holders!
I glued scrapbook paper to the bookends and covered them in mod podge. Then I stuck the post- it notes in place and Annabel wrote “Grandma`s Notes” and “Grandad`s Notes” on white paper which we glued under the post- it notes.
A very cute present and useful as well.
But in case grandma and grandad have lost their pencils (people get older, don`t they :) ) we thought we should give them some pens as well. Lil Mermaid has made one surprise present for her daddy already (inspiration from Mister Maker), so we thought to use the same one.
My daughter cut out the cone shape from cardboard. Then she cut out the ice cream ball shape from craft foam and glued it to the top of the cone shape. After cutting out some little bits of felt she glued them onto the ice cream and gave some finishing touches to the cone by using brown pen. I helped her to stick the ice cream cones to the pencils with sticky tape.
The result is VERY CUTE!

This is super cute indeed!!
Definitely very cute, I bet the Grandparents were very happy to recieve these! The icecream cone pens are adorable.
Thank you.
Yes, they were happy. They are always happy to get handmade presents from their grandchild. And Annabel loves making these little things.
I think the icecream cone pen is a perfect little present for any occasion really. Playdates, party bags..
